The Great Potentials of Objects Collaborations in the IoT

The talk focuses on the strong need for IoT objects to collaborate to share services and information even if belonging to different platforms. The advantages of an effective collaboration among devices belonging to different domains are huge but the issues to be addressed are challenging. Two possible approaches are presented. The first relies on the use of the social networking technologies so that the objects mimic the human behaviour when interacting with other peers, i.e., they create social relationships among them and enquire friends when looking for information and for getting information about the reliability of the other peers. The second one is based on the creation of local cluster of objects in an opportunistic way, which joint the forces to provide local services for the provisioning of local sensing services. A Game theory based approach is used to stimulate the collaboration among objects to provide services to the different running applications.
